BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key technology news from the past week:

Z-20 DEMO FLIGHT

A fleet of China's new self-developed Zhi-20 (Z-20) helicopters has made a demonstration flight at an ongoing helicopter expo in the city of Tianjin.

The Z-20, developed by the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), is a medium-lift helicopter with double China-made engines, which made its first public appearance during a massive National Day parade on Oct. 1.

AI-AIDED CANCER DETECTION

Chinese researchers have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) medical tool that can help doctors improve diagnostic accuracy in detecting upper gastrointestinal cancers through analysis of imaging data from clinical examinations.

It is the latest case of Chinese researchers using AI technology to assist physicians in clinical diagnosis. Results showed that the AI-assisted screening model can diagnose the cancers with an accuracy of over 90 percent. The system has been adopted in five hospitals of the country.

NEW HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY

The Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway started joint debugging. The railway is 174 kilometers long, with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

It is a major project for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. It will cut the travel time between the two cities from more than two hours to one hour. It's expected to be finished by the end of 2019.

ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE

China's self-developed all-terrain vehicle will set off to the South Pole, contributing to the country's upcoming 36th Antarctic expedition.

The vehicle Nanji 2 (Antarctica No. 2), painted in red and yellow, was manufactured by Guizhou Jonyang Kinetics Co., Ltd. It was delivered to the Polar Research Institute of China in Shanghai on Sunday. Enditem
