TEHRAN, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in the French seaside town of Biarritz on Sunday as the 45th annual Group of Seven (G7) summit is convened in the town, official IRNA news agency reported.

Zarif's visit to Biarritz comes at the official invitation of his French counterpart, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi.

"No meeting or negotiations will be held with the U.S. delegation" during Zarif's trip to the French town, said Mousavi.

U.S. President Donald Trump and the leaders of Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Japan as well as top EU officials are all in Biarritz for the G7 summit.

The three-day summit, starting on Saturday, has and will discuss global challenges involving foreign policy, economy and environmental protection.

Commenting on Iran's conflict with the United States, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday that "everyone wants to avoid a conflict, and U.S. President Donald Trump was extremely clear on that point."

After his talk with Macron in Paris on Friday, Zarif said France had offered proposals about ways to implement the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, the United States, France, Britain, Russia and China, plus Germany signed the nuclear agreement on July 14, 2015.

However, Trump pulled Washington out of the deal last year and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran. In response, Iran recently dropped parts of its obligation under the deal and has threatened to do more if tensions continue.
