TOKYO, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar stayed around the 111 yen line Thursday in Tokyo ahead of trade talks between the United States and Japan later in the day.

At 5 p.m., the dollar was quoted at 111.04-05 yen compared with 110.90-111.00 yen in New York and 110.94-96 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday. It moved between 110.71 yen and 111.08 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1583-1585 dollars and 128.62-66 yen against 1.1605-1615 dollars and 128.76-86 yen in New York and 1.1609-1611 dollars and 128.79-83 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
