KAMPALA, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Three foreign coaches have been shortlisted to take up the job of Uganda's national football coach.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) said in a statement on Friday that the list of four coaches including one local has been forward to the government to make the choice.

State Minister for Sports, Charles Bakkabulindi told Xinhua on Friday that the four names sent to his office includes three foreign coaches and Uganda's Moses Basena.

"We have been asked by the FA to make a decision on any of the four coaches because the vetting committee that picked the coaches was technical enough together with the endorsement of the executive committee of the Federation," Bakkabulindi said.

French born Desabrie Sabastian, Emilio Ferrera of Belgium and former Rwanda and Seirra Leone coach John Mckinstry are the foreign nominees shortlisted.

The State Minister said that the whole idea is not to get a very expensive coach whose salary will become a problem of the country to pay.

"This time we decided the government gets involved in the recruitment because we shall pay a good percentage of the wages," added Bakkabulindi.

Former Zambian FA President and football star, Kalusha Bwalya was head of the vetting committee that interviewed over 90 coaches who applied for the job.

Serbian Milutin Sredojevic quit the job of Uganda Cranes coach three months ago after he was demanding salary arrears of 54,000 U.S. dollars.

Uganda is expected to name a new coach ahead of the 2018 Africa Nations Championship to take place in Morocco.
