KIEV, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian state-run energy company Ukrenergo said Friday that it had imposed emergency power outages in Kiev and nine regions across the country following a massive Russian missile and drone attack.
Electricity supply restrictions were introduced in the capital of Kiev, the northern Kiev region, the Sumy region and the Chernihiv region, as well as the central Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy and Poltava regions, among other regions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 450 drones and over 30 missiles were fired at Ukraine overnight, with energy infrastructure being the main target.
A child was killed, and over 20 people across the country were injured in the attack, according to Zelensky.
He added that emergency services are working on the sites of the strike to mitigate the consequences. ■
