KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said Thursday it has signed a collaboration agreement with CAIQ Biosecurity Sdn Bhd to strengthen technical compliance support and improve market readiness for Malaysian exporters targeting China.
The initiative, under the Malaysia-China Gateway Initiative (MCGi), is aimed at helping exporters, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), navigate China's import requirements, including product testing, documentation, labelling, traceability and regulatory procedures, the government agency said in a statement.
The initiative covers sectors such as agriculture, food and beverages, cosmetics, healthcare, pet care, commodities and selected geographical indication products including Musang King durian and Sarawak pepper.
The framework is designed to bridge market access and technical compliance by providing exporters with structured pre-export advisory, testing facilitation and guidance to reduce regulatory risks and improve time-to-market readiness, it said.
MATRADE chairman Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the initiative will support the agency's expansion into second- and third-tier Chinese cities, where demand for trusted and origin-based products is growing. ■
