YANGON, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A training course on diagnosing foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) using molecular and serological techniques, funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, kicked off in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on Tuesday, The Mirror reported on Wednesday.
The training, supported by LMC Fund 2024, aims to upgrade FMD diagnosis from routine methods to molecular and serological techniques, allowing faster and more accurate diagnosis, Min Thein Maw, deputy director general of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, told Xinhua.
This will strengthen laboratory skills and support FMD control activities, he said, adding that quick identification of FMD can prevent disease spread, protect animals from infection, and reduce risks to trade.
The five-day training runs until March 28 with 10 participants, he said. ■
