BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China cherishes the China-Cambodia friendship cultivated by the older generation of leaders of the two countries and is committed to carrying it forward alongside Cambodia, making the relationship a model for China's relations with its neighboring countries, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks when meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who accompanied Cambodian People's Party (CPP) President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his visit to China in Beijing.

China highly appreciates Cambodia's active support for the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four global initiatives. China is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with Cambodia in international and regional affairs, safeguard the common interests of the Global South, and contribute to promoting peace and development in the region and around the world, Wang added.

Sokhonn said that Cambodia attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance high-level exchanges, deepen strategic mutual trust, promote unity and cooperation, and jointly safeguard multilateralism and the basic norms governing international relations.

Chanthol said that Cambodia looks forward to working with China to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure and other fields, adding Cambodia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country and will spare no effort to create a safe and friendly business environment. ■
