ANTALYA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- China's Zhu Jingyi claimed two gold medals in the recurve women's individual and team events at the third Archery World Cup stage of the season on Sunday, capping a standout week in Antalya.
The 19-year-old continued her strong form. She opened her season in dominant fashion, sweeping three gold medals in Puebla, Mexico before taking two silvers at her home leg in Shanghai last month.
In Antalya, Zhu joined Huang Yuwei and returning Olympic silver medalist Li Jiaman to form a reinforced Chinese women's recurve team. The trio edged out host Türkiye in a shoot-off in Tuesday's semifinal to reach a third consecutive team final this season.
In Sunday's final, China faced a Mexico side that had earlier produced one of the tournament's biggest surprises by knocking out South Korea in the semifinals. The opening set finished level at 52-52 before Mexico edged ahead by taking the second set 56-55.
China responded strongly in the third set, firing a composed 59 to level the match at 3-3 on set points. The team then held its nerve in the decisive fourth set, securing a 56-55 win to clinch the gold 5-3.
Zhu carried her momentum into the individual recurve event later in the day. She produced a commanding 6-0 semifinal victory over South Korea's An San before defeating Mexico's Ana Paula Vazquez 7-3 in the final to complete a golden double.
Her compatriot Li Mengqi, the surprise winner in Shanghai, added a men's individual bronze after falling 7-3 to South Korea's Lee Woo-seok in the semifinals. Lee, who earlier helped South Korea win the men's team title alongside Kim Woo-jin and Kim Je-deok, was bested 7-3 by India's Dhiraj Bommadevara in the final.
It was also the second gold in Antalya for Bommadevara, who paired with Kumkum Anil Mohod to capture the mixed team title with a 5-1 victory over South Korea's Oh Ye-jin and Kim Je-deok in the final.
In compound archery, Chinese Taipei edged Denmark 158-157 in a tightly contested mixed team final on Saturday. China also featured prominently, with Liu Jinyi, Shi Jingyu and Liao Jiahao narrowly defeating Denmark 234-233 to secure the men's team title, while host Türkiye claimed the women's team crown.
Netherlands' Mike Schloesser added another milestone to his decorated career, winning his 10th World Cup title in the men's individual compound event. In the women's compound final, Mexico's Andrea Maya Becerra Arizaga emerged champion.
The World Cup will next move to Madrid, Spain on July 7-12 for the final stop this season. ■
