KABUL, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Three members of a family were killed and six others sustained injuries after the roof of their house collapsed in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Wednesday, a statement of the provincial directorate for information and culture said.

The incident took place in the wake of heavy rain in Sangin district early morning, killing three people, including two children and their mother, and injuring six others, including some children, the statement said.

All the injured have been shifted to the hospital, the statement added.

Parts of Afghanistan have witnessed heavy rain, snowfall and chilly weather over the past several days. ■
