THE HAGUE, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands has pledged an extra 700 million euros (812 million U.S. dollars) in support of Ukraine next year, the Dutch government said on Monday.

According to a letter signed by the ministers of finance, defense and foreign affairs and sent to both the House of Representatives and the Senate, 500 million euros of the funding will come from the Defense Ministry's budget, while the remaining 200 million euros will be allocated from the foreign affairs budget.

Since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in February 2022, the Netherlands has committed approximately 13.5 billion euros in military assistance and about 3.5 billion euros in non-military support to Ukraine, the government said.

The ministers warned that freeing up additional funding in next year's budget would be challenging, noting that "the financial reality is that we will reach our limits next year."

The cabinet also stressed the importance of mobilizing international financing for Ukraine in the short term, under appropriate conditions, and expressed a preference for reconstruction loans based on immobilized Russian central bank assets. (1 euro = 1.16 U.S. dollar) ■
