LAUSANNE, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The International School Sport Federation (ISF) announced Thursday it has teamed up with the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to support the promotion of snow sports in education.
The world governing bodies for school sport and skiing and snowboarding have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the ISF announced.
"Such a collaboration will see FIS provide expertise across any and all relevant fields. This includes, but is not limited to, ISF events delivered on FIS-approved courses, technical delegates officiating at ISF events, and directives in timing and data management of said events," read an ISF statement.
"Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for young people, where they can compete, discover new sports, and grow in a safe educational environment," explained ISF President Zeljko Tanaskovic.
"Together with FIS, we are opening a new chapter for winter sports, and I am confident this partnership will lead to a long and fruitful collaboration that will inspire the next generation of athletes."
FIS' new CEO Urs Lehmann said, "We are committed to addressing the well-documented drop-off in sports engagement among teenage girls, while also championing sustainability, fair play, and integrity through sport. This partnership reflects our shared values and our ambition to inspire the next generation of ski and snowboard enthusiasts." ■
