MOSCOW, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Russia's foreign trade surplus shrank 14.13 percent in January-August 2025 from a year earlier to 86.3 billion U.S. dollars, said Russia's Federal Customs Service on Friday.
"Based on customs statistics, Russia's total foreign trade turnover in January-August 2025 stood at 442.1 billion U.S. dollars, a 3.2 percent decrease from January-August 2024. Specifically, exports reached 264.2 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 5.2 percent, while imports amounted to 177.9 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 0.1 percent," the service said in a statement.
In the first eight months of 2024, Russia's foreign trade surplus was 100.5 billion dollars.
Asian coutries accounted for 72.8 percent of Russia's total foreign trade turnover in January-August 2025. The trade volume with these countries fell 1.6 percent compared to the same period of 2024. Meanwhile, European countries accounted for 19 percent of Russia's foreign trade, with the volume of trade dropping 9 percent. ■
