LONDON, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Donations for Masterchef star who died in London Marathon on Friday passed 275,900 U.S. dollars.

The donations for Matt Campbell have topped 200,000 British pounds (275,951.60 U.S. dollars) by Friday.

Campbell, who was a semi-finalist in MasterChef: The Professionals in 2017, collapsed on Sunday during the London Marathon.

He was running in the London Marathon for a charity fund to improve the life chances of children, young people and families, and in memory of his father.

But he collapsed at the 22.5-mile mark during the race, the hottest ever.

More than 17,150 people have donated for him so far.

Some 40,000 runners attended the London event, which was officially the hottest on record, with temperatures reaching 24.1 degrees Celsius, according to the Met Office.

Provisional figures showed that 110 runners required hospital treatment.
